In episode 38 of the podcast, I had an enlightening conversation with Kristine, a psychedelic coach who specializes in microdosing protocols and sacred rituals. Kristine brings an interesting blend of spiritual practices and psychedelic coaching to help her clients reach their goals and find joy in their day-to-day lives. 

Kristine’s Journey into Psychedelic Coaching

Kristine graduated from college in 2008 with degrees in journalism, marketing, and PR, ready to dive into her career. However, the world had other plans as the recession hit, leading Kristine down an unexpected path. She found herself in an unfulfilling job with a manipulative boss, working long hours and sacrificing her health. This pivotal experience pushed her to make a significant change.

She enrolled in yoga teacher training, which not only sparked a passion for teaching yoga but also led her down an unexpected spiritual journey. This journey took her from managing yoga studios to opening her own studio in Los Angeles. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced her to close the studio, leading her to an intense period of self-discovery. It was during this time that Kristine was introduced to psychedelics by her former partner, leading to a transformative experience with magic mushrooms.

Having found so much personal healing and insight through psychedelics, Kristine eventually transitioned from her corporate yoga job to focus on psychedelic coaching and retreats. Now, she helps people harness the power of microdosing to enhance their creativity, focus, and overall well-being.

Understanding Microdosing and Rituals

Microdosing involves taking a very small dose of psilocybin, the psychoactive ingredient found in mushrooms, to manage mood, stay focused, and enhance creativity without experiencing a full psychedelic trip. Kristine typically works with doses around 0.1 grams, combined with rituals and intentional practices to maximize the benefits.

Kristine  emphasizes the importance of integrating rituals such as journaling, introspection, and mindfulness practices into one's daily routine. She likens this to the commitment required for a successful yoga practice. According to Kristine, these rituals help deepen the relationship with oneself and the medicine, ensuring that the subtle effects of microdosing are fully appreciated.

The Benefits and Challenges of Microdosing

Kristine shares that microdosing can take several months to show its full benefits, requiring consistency and dedication. Some of the reported benefits include improved mood, increased creativity, and enhanced focus. However, not everyone finds success with microdosing. Kristine notes that the main challenges are often related to time commitment and an individual's readiness to face internal growth and change.

For many, the daily rituals and time dedicated to introspection are challenging to maintain. Additionally, while microdosing is subtle, it still asks individuals to grow and evolve, which can be an intimidating process. Kristine also advises being mindful of interactions with other medications, particularly SSRIs, and consulting with healthcare professionals as needed.

The Power of Psychedelics

Kristine’s experience with macro dosing also highlights the profound impact psychedelics can have on one’s sense of self and the world. Macro dosing involves much larger doses, which can lead to intense, transformative experiences often referred to as "ego death." These experiences can provide deep insights and healing but require careful preparation and a safe, supportive environment.

While Kristine primarily works with entrepreneurs, she believes that anyone ready to do the work and seek personal growth can benefit from psychedelic coaching.
